Learning Goal: Students will be able to examine multiple views on public and current issues by analyzing media and political communications (bias, symbolism, propaganda) and the impact it can have on government.
Make a Political Advertisement
Directions: Your task will be to create a political advertisement for one of the political candidates below. You will create the ad with Pic Collage or Powerpoint and post it to our class's Padlet wall to share. You will then present this ad to the class with a script that you will read to accompany it. Presentations should be no more than a minute long.
Before you begin your political ad, you must read about your assigned candidate and take notes on key pieces of information that you want to highlight in your advertisement. Pick out some positives about your candidate’s profile: their background/experience, ideas, or vision for the country.
Think of how you can highlight that positive image of your candidate with the appropriate propaganda techniques. (A list of propaganda techniques can be found below)
